"But, you know, I’m an actor… tomorrow a script will land in my lap and I’ll be like, ‘Oh that’s really interesting’ and go off on the research of it, and go on runs and bike rides and think about the character. Just let your imagination go with it. Actors are interpretative artists, they don’t create it, they figure it out." – Lee Pace
What’s in a label? Plenty, sometimes.
Film: Now, Voyager
Director: Irving Rapper
Actors: Bette Davis, Paul Henreid
In the script it said that I should offer Bette Davis a cigarette, she would take the cigarette, I would take one myself, I would light her cigarette, I would light my cigarette. And then I would finally take her cigarette out of her mouth, mine out of mine, give her mine, take hers. And be charming all the while. So I suggested to Bette to simplifly this whole thing and just have two cigarettes and light them both at the same time and offer her one. Bette adored it, our director didn’t like it. He didn’t like it at all.
